How will the 1st of August proceed according to current planning?
It starts at the Brandenburg Gate at 11 am. As the approval of the Tempelhofer Feld by the Grün-Berlin-GmbH is still pending, the organizers have the impression that the meeting is to be boycotted by the authorities due to political pressure. Therefore the organizers have registered the Straße des 17. Juni as an alternative with the notification date 13.06.2020.
Yesterday, on 17.07.2020, the organizers made the final decision to demonstrate on the Straße des 17. Juni. Further delays for the release of the Tempelhofer Feld would put an additional strain on the planning, which is already very challenging. Furthermore, the risk of a short-term cancellation/change of location would make the process even more complicated.
The exact route will be announced in advance. If you are standing at the Brandenburg Gate on August 1st at 11 am for the end of the pandemic, you are already in the right place. For Sunday, August 2, many initiatives have registered small gatherings throughout Berlin.
