Missing Link to Yanis Varoufakis – KenFM-Interview with Dirk Pohlmann

Just seven months as finance minister of the Syriza government have made Prof. Yanis Varoufakis in Germany the most famous Greek since Socrates. The economist, trained at the universities of Essex and East Anglia, who later taught as a professor at the British elite university of Cambridge, as well as at the universities of Sydney, Glasgow, Louvain and Athens, is often ridiculed as a “pop star” in the German “quality media” – although he clearly outclasses most professional politicians in the EU in terms of expertise.

Varoufakis, with his expertise, would of course be above all a veritable political opponent for the leader of the anti-Greeks in the EU, the lawyer Dr. Wolfgang Schäuble – if Schäuble could not rely on the fact that only he, and not Varoufakis as well, would have his views heard in Germany.

Once again, ARD, ZDF, the Bild-Zeitung and the other usual suspects in the media ensure that the official line is broadcast to the population via all channels as if it had been synchronized.

In the USA, on the other hand, Nobel Prize winners in economics such as Paul Krugman or Josef Stiglitz – even in the leading media there! – vehemently opposed Schäuble and supported Varoufakis.

Joseph Stiglitz speaks in the news magazine “Time” of the fact that with Schäuble’s policy Greece is being destroyed by Germany for the second time after World War II.

Paul Krugman writes in the New York Times that the euro is primarily to blame for the Greek situation – an analysis that Varoufakis shares in our KenFM International interview with Dirk Pohlmann.

In addition, the proposal of the European left-wing parties “Plan B”, and the website of Yanis Varoufakis links to highly interesting articles.

The alternative to the German media mash runs on KenFM. An interview, in which Yanis Varoufakis himself has his say. His arguments are not distorted and commented in an “broadcaster-compatible” (government friendly) way, until Varoufakis is no longer recognizable to Varoufakis himself.
