Cancellation of this year’s war conference in Munich by the German government

This year’s war conference is to take place in Munich from 14-16 February 2020. This conference, which has been undermining German, European and global security for years, is being financed with millions of euros from public funds, including the Ministry of Defence. At a time dominated by the assassination of a high-ranking Iranian general in Baghdad on behalf of the President of the United States and with the world at the edge of war, it is irresponsible to hold this war conference.

The Federal Government is called upon to make representations to the European Union, NATO, the OSCE, the United Nations and the Government of the United States. The aim of this action must be to withdraw the threat of the destruction of the cultural heritage of a nation and thus of the world community by the United States Government, as well as the statement about disproportionate retaliation. The threats alone violate the applicable rules of international law. They are outside the foundations of human civilisation.
